Choclevate vs. Decaf Coffee
Be prepared to spend a little extra on high-quality decaf to get a decent taste as compared to Choclevate.
There are various processes used to remove caffeine from coffee beans and the most economical uses chemicals to accomplish this. Although the chemicals are washed away, small traces can remain that impact the taste of the resulting brew. Some of the good coffee flavors can also be washed away with caffeine.
Some more expensive decaf beans go through the Swiss method, where the beans are heated with water and then passed through activated charcoal, which binds with the caffeine, leaving the beans with reduced caffeine but the majority of their original taste.
Another, more recent addition to these processes is known as Hevla. Coffee beans are steamed at high pressure and the caffeine removed, without any real impact on the flavor. The use of this process is becoming more widespread but is unlikely to be used on the standard decaf for sale in your local supermarket.
As well as checking the manufacturing process when buying decaf coffee, you should also have a careful look at the caffeine content. You may think you have been clever enough to find a great decaf that tastes just like regular coffee, for a reasonable price. You may, in fact, find that the caffeine content is only slightly reduced, hence the taste, and you can probably do yourself almost as much damage with this as with a regular brew.
Also, beware of drinking decaf coffee when you are out and about. Because the same machines are used to make decaf as regular coffee, you might unintentionally be getting a large dose of caffeine anyway.
Decaf Coffee Alternatives
Chicory Root Coffee
According to Dr. Axe, This popular coffee substitute does more than just take the place of your favorite breakfast accompaniment, however. In addition to providing added fiber to foods, chicory root has a smooth, creamy feeling in the mouth similar to fat. That makes it a great fat replacement in ice creams, margarine, and dressings.
Golden Milk is a super-healthy decaf coffee alternative because of its anti-inflammatory effects. According to HealthLine,
You can prepare basic golden milk in about 5 minutes. Here’s how:
- In a saucepan, combine 1 cup (237 ml) of milk or a non-dairy alternative with 1/2 teaspoon of ground turmeric, 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon of ground ginger and a pinch of black pepper. Optionally, add honey to taste.
- Warm the mixture on low to medium heat, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
- Once heated, pour the drink into a mug and enjoy.
Even if you still add a no- or low- caffeine drink later in the morning, lemon water is a great way to start your day. Just a glass of water and the juice of half a lemon will provide you 10% of your daily allowance for Vitamin C.
When you drink lemon water as a decaf coffee alternative, not only do you add vitamins to your diet, you get your system moving the first thing. Who doesn’t want to be more regular?!
Kombucha is a great decaf coffee alternative. By definition, Kombucha is a beverage produced by fermenting sweet tea with a culture of yeast and bacteria. When you drink kombucha, not only are you reducing your caffeine intake, you are getting probiotics, antioxidants, and so much more.
With Kombucha, you get the benefits of green tea plus a reduced risk of heart disease. Kombucha can be purchased over the counter or you can make it at home with a Kombucha starter kit.
Choclevate is the no-caffeine added version of smart coffee in chocolate form.
Not only do you get all the benefits of the nootropics in smart coffee, but there is also a D.O.S.E. version that includes Choclevate.
Happiness and chocolate usually go hand-in-hand. Choclevate is a delicious Nootropic Hot Chocolate beverage designed to assist in the elevation of mood, mental focus, and energy. Nootropics are recognized for supporting cognitive function, memory, creativity and even motivation in healthy individuals. If you’re a chocolate lover, this one’s for you!
Choclevate vs. Smart Coffee
The coffee and Chocolate both work giving the wonderful benefits we are all seeing here through a Nootropics delivery system. They work to stimulate the body to produce more of its own happiness and satisfaction hormones naturally.
The energy we feel from the coffee is partially from the natural caffeine in there. The coffee has 140mg of caffeine which is equivalent to a regular Cup of joe. The chocolate is considered our decaf option. It does have some natural cocoa bean, just like decaf coffee has coffee bean, but It’s no added caffeine leaving it at a minimal 8mg.
The difference between the 2 is that the choclevate has More of the Serotonin boosting component in it giving more of that for the natural energy. Both are great!! Chocolate is a great option for those that are sensitive to caffeine or maybe just don’t love coffee. You can drink either hot, cold or frozen! We are seeing phenomenal results from both.
I have been on the Choclevate and Xanthomax 30 days now. I am down 7.2lbs and 4-3/4 inches. Also, I had been on thyroid medication since 2000, but the past year I couldn’t afford the medication. Today the Dr’s office called to say my levels were normal therefore he is not putting me back on the med. The only change I have made was using this product, so I couldn’t be happier with the all-around results!
Whoop whoop one month down 10#, wearing a size 6…..haven’t worn that in many a year’s. Absolutely love my choclevate.
I am diabetic and I have been on the Choclevate for about 3 weeks. I don’t check my blood as often as I should but I did tonight and it is the lowest it has been since I was diagnosed. The only difference is drinking this product. Love it!
I started the Choclevate/DOSE (I don’t like coffee lol) about a month ago and have officially hit my 10 lb mark!! So excited since weight loss has been a struggle for me because of other health conditions.

If you really can’t stomach changing to decaf, you could just reduce the amount of coffee that you drink and really savor those occasional cups. You could also switch to a darker roast such as an Italian roast, popular for espresso-making, which is naturally low in caffeine because most of it has burnt off during the roasting process.
So don’t despair when your doctor gives you the bad news. Just because you have to cut down on caffeine, this does not mean that you have to give up your coffee altogether.
